(PRWEB) August 31, 2008 — Ron Prosser, CEO of TheProsserGroup, will describe the challenges of advancing technology beyond early readiness levels into production for several areas including the alternative energy and electric automobile fields. He will address the role of venture capital in this process.
The Small Business Innovative Research Program is a Government program to foster innovative research by small business and is supported by major corporations. Transition of the innovative research to actual use has been problematic on DoD programs. Combining commercial use for key dual use innovative research activities can provide a much needed pull for these technologies. Prosser will address high growth areas having potential for dual use technology. In particular he will address alternative energy technology needs. He will also address the growing market for eclectic automobiles and key challenges facing them. He will discuss technology transition and the need to mature technology quickly and develop business cases that are well thought out in order to attract venture capital investments. The electric automobile market is starting to emerge in Israel today through the programs sponsored by the government, Project Better Place and Renault/Nissan. Transition and scaling to a much larger US market present challenges on several fronts including providing electrical charging on the road for cars as this market emerges. Alternative energy also has several key challenges including transmission line access as well as producing the energy at competitive costs. Dual use technologies can play a key role is address some of these challenges but not all of them.
Prior to becoming the CEO of TheProsserGroup, Prosser was the President of Boeing Services Co. and the Vice President of Boeing Advanced Systems. For more background on Ron Prosser go to http://www.theprossergroup.com/leadership.php.
